About

Education Technology is experiencing a global expansion unlike any time in history. And with this massive disruption, people from diverse backgrounds are creating innovations that have the potential to alter the ways we receive and comprehend learning.

As entrepreneurs ourselves, we have struggled through the immensely difficult “zero to one” stage of launching a business…and acknowledge that the challenge is even greater for Founders of color.

EdTech Foundation is committed to eliminating the inequities around access to early stage capital by addressing the problem of the missing “pre-seed” round of “Friends & Family” financing for Founders of Color.

Our Why?

man, road, african

Access to “Friends & Family” capital isn’t the same for everyone. And data shows that the average Black household has a fraction of the available capital as compared to the average (approximately 10%).  For some Black entrepreneurs, the challenge to raise the first $50,000 might as well be $5 million. EdTech Foundation was created to address this need and attempt to level the playing field.

Our commitment to our Founders is more than just capital…we bring experience, mentorship, contacts and potentially accretive business combinations through a network of mission aligned organizations and creative capital solutions.

Our goal is to become “Friends & Family” with our Founders, and collaborate on a financial roadmap to maximize their potential for future success.

Empowering Founders who create technologies designed to innovate the ways we learn.

Let's Work Together!

We are passionate about supporting Founders of Color in EdTech and  committed to institutionalizing a solution to eliminate the inequities around access to early stage capital for people of color.
